Frequently asked questions

Getting Started

Questions about beginning therapy, choosing the right support, costs, availability, and what to expect from your first sessions.

How long until I can start therapy?

Once you submit your initial enquiry, you will be contacted within 24 hours. This will be to book your initial consultation, during which we will discuss whether there is availability or a waitlist. If there is a waitlist, you will be placed on it straight away; however, referrals will also be offered to you if you’d prefer.

If there is availability, we wait 24 hours after your consultation to allow what we’ve discussed to land and then after 24 hours, we can get started with your first session.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Trust is one of the key ingredients in therapy; when you first meet someone, we usually instinctively know whether we feel comfortable. Many therapists offer an initial consultation where you can ask questions, get a feel for the therapist to see if you can see yourself working with them, and see whether their approach is what you’re looking for.

How much do counselling sessions cost?

Individual counselling sessions last 50 minutes and can be held weekly or fortnightly, depending on your needs and availability.

• Online sessions: £60.00

• Walk & talk sessions: £60.00

• Face-to-face sessions: £70.00

• Groups or workshops: prices vary

I also reserve a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for students and those on a low income, subject to availability.

What issues can therapy help with?

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress/burnout, relationship difficulties, people-pleasing, low self-worth, emotional abuse, loss of identity, and the impact of controlling or narcissistic relationships. Therapy can support you in understanding relationship patterns, improving boundaries, and reconnecting with yourself.

What happens during the first therapy session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another. We may explore what has brought you to therapy, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from the process. There is no pressure to share everything straight away — therapy moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

How long does therapy take?

I wish I could wave a magic wand and answer this question directly, however, there is no fixed timeline for therapy as it is a deeply subjective experience. Some clients attend short-term counselling for support with a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns, relationships, or past experiences. We will regularly review the process together to ensure therapy continues to feel supportive and beneficial for you.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Absolutely, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call to briefly explore what has brought you to therapy, what support you are seeking, and whether working together feels like the right path going forward.

Can I come back to therapy in the future?

There may be times where your therapeutic journey needs to end, either due to the natural course of therapy, finances or life events. In those circumstances, we work towards a supportive, safe and healthy ending together.

If there comes a time in the future where you would like to reengage with therapy, you are more than welcome to reach out; the door is always open.
